Calinog still top nutrition awardee
The municipality of Calinog retained its Outstanding Nutrition Program Implementor Award for three consecutive years after it bested other municipalities in the provincial evaluation conducted by the Provincial Nutrition Evaluation Team last May 21 to June 5, 2007.
The Provincial Nutrition Evaluation Team is composed of representatives of the different concerned agencies chaired by Mr. Elias Sandig of the Provincial Agriculture Office.
Iloilo Provincial Nutrition Program Coordinator Rosarie San Luis cited among others the efficiency and effectiveness of the nutrition program of Calinog in their winning.
Based on the result submitted by the evaluation team, the other top two awardees are the municipalities of New Lucena and Concepcion, respectively.
On the other hand, Brgy. Banban Grande of Calinog topped the barangay category with Bololacao, New Lucena, second, and Jamul-awon, Concepcion, third.
The evaluation team has chosen Hannah Paredes of Jamul-awon, Concepcion as Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS) this year. The other three BNS who made it to the top four are Daisy Mae Penit of Amurao, Cabatuan, Mercedita Patubo of Bololacao, New Lucena and Leonora Servidad of Siwaragan, San Joaquin.
San Luis said the search is spearheaded by the provincial government through its Provincial Nutrition Technical Working Group to recognize local government units who showed good performance in managing their nutrition plans.
"This is also to ensure that our local government units will include their nutrition plans amongst its priority programs and services," said San Luis.
Winners will be recognized in a fitting ceremony that will be set on a later date.
