LTFRB to strengthen campaign against franchise violators
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) will soon create its own Enforcement Team that will run against all franchise violators.
Regional director Porfirio Clavel said the team will create its own mechanism, conduct data checking and monitor all colorum vehicles in Western Visayas.
Clavel said as a quasi-judicial body they can summon or issue subpoena to the owners of those vehicles for investigation.
He said they will no longer have to wait for the Land Transportation Office (LTO) or any deputized personnel to enforce the rules and regulations under the public service law because they will soon come up with their own mechanism on how to do it.
Next week three personnel from the LTFRB namely Atty. Romel Duron, the hearing officer, Marco Quimpo and Arturo Genes will undergo a training and seminar in UP Manila regarding deputization of personnel to that effect.
Clavel added that all the 10 male personnel of LTFRB will become part of the team.
The enforcement team will start its operation second week of October. (PNA)
