Motorists decry bridge's deplorable condition
Motorists have decried the deplorable condition of the old Carpenters Bridge in Tabucan, Mandurriao.
The Carpenters Bridge which links Molo and Mandurriao district is full of potholes which cause inconvenience to vehicles passing the area.
Aside from having potholes the old bridge's railings are already destroyed which could endanger motorists.
Beside the old bridge is the multi-million bridge which is still undergoing completion. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) under its Iloilo River Development Program funds the construction of the new bridge.
It was learned that the Carpenters Bridge is under the jurisdiction of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
DPWH regional director Rolando Asis was not available for comment at press time.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas said the City Engineers Office (CEO) could not yet fix the potholes in city roads. The asphalting of the affected roads will be made when the weather turns fine. He said asphalting works could not be done because rains suddenly occur.
