OWWA's 'Search for Model OFW Family of the Year'ongoing
The search is on for the 'Model Overseas Filipino Worker Family of the Year' in Western Visayas, according to Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) officer in charge James Mendiola.
Mendiola said Western Visayas is looking forward to win again the national award as the regional winner will automatically represent this region to the national selection.
For two consecutive years, the national model family awardees were all from Western Visayas.
The winner will be chosen based on the criteria which include being a functional family, with constant communication, responsibilities shared among all the family members, emotional stability, community involvement, advocacies and development of investment.
"We urge the community to nominate ideal OFW families whom they think are worthy to be emulated," he urged.
The forms can be accessed at the OWWA office or can be downloaded at www.owwa.gov.ph.
Mendiola said they expect to receive about 12 nominations at the end of the week, which is also the deadline of the nomination.
The selection of regional winners starts next month by judges coming from the OWWA, DOLE and representatives from the land-based sector, sea-based sector, religious sector and major sponsors.
The regional winner to be declared on Oct. 28 will receive P20, 000, cellular phone from Globe and gift items from major sponsors.
The national winners slated Nov. 28 meantime will receive more than P1-million from OWWA's major sponsors. (PNA)
