DILG urges Capiz barangays to set up info centers
Roxas City -- The government urges the barangays in Capiz to put up their respective information centers.
Interior and Local Government Provincial Director Jenny Destua of Capiz disclosed that they are encouraging all the barangays in the province to establish their respective Gabay sa Mamamayan Action Center (GMAC).
Destua explained that the GMAC is a barangay-based information center that caters to the information needs not only of visitors from other places but also of the residents of the concerned community.
He said that in order to institutionalize this project of DILG, they have been conducting an annual search for the best GMAC.
This year, barangay Quevedo in Maayon town is the official entry of Capiz to the Regional Search for Model GMAC after said barangay was declared provincial champion.
Destua also encouraged government agencies as well as non-government and civic organizations to provide said centers with information materials regarding their respective programs and services in order to update the community.
Among those basic information needed by the community are on livelihood and entrepreneurship, health, and even requirements in the processing of various applications like application for passport, visa, business registration and the like. (PIA)
