School offers tuition discount to cops
Members of the Philippine National Police and their dependents may now avail of the special scholarship program of St. Therese-MTC Colleges in Iloilo City.
In a letter addressed to Police Regional Office 6 Director Wilfredo V. Dulay Sr., St. Therese-MTC Colleges thru Mrs Jasmin L. Parreño, the Dean of its Criminology Department, offered 20 percent discount to sons, daughters and members of the Philippine National Police who enroll a Criminology Course.
With its first batch of Criminologists this year, the Criminology Course of St. Therese-MTC Colleges is a ladderized program under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), which is aimed to ensure each enrollee to finish a course upon completing their first and second year level.
Dulay said this privilege offered to the PNP personnel and their dependents is of big help to cops, especially those who are financially constraint.
"Many of our police have not yet finished college and warned for attrition if failed to graduate a four-year course before 2009," he quipped.
As per record, 1,029 police officers throughout the region are yet to finish college
The PNP supports these police officers by giving them the privilege to be assigned to units near the school they wished to complete their respective college degrees.
"Our police here are too fortunate for having these privileges, a manifestation that the organization cares for them," Dulay said adding that some other schools are also giving discounts to the police. (PRO6 PIO)
