Icada prexy: Sentiment on traffic experiment not related to politics
Iloilo City Alliance of Drivers Association (Icada) President Nick Dalisay clarified that the position paper they recently submitted to City Councilor Erwin Plagata calling for an end to the ongoing traffic experiment was just an expression of their sentiment and is not in any way associated with politics.
Dalisay further said the organization is not dictating Plagata as head of the the Traffic Technical Working Group (TWG) on what to do over the city's traffic problem.
Dalisay believes Plagata has misgivings with the Icada since the time of its former president Rey Cachuela.
Dalisay said there is no malice on their part when they aired their dissatisfaction over the implementation of the traffic experiment.
Icada earlier said that the traffic experiment did not solve the city's traffic problem.
Dalisay said it is very disadvantageous on their part as it reduced their daily earnings.
"The councilor should not take it personally against me as I'm just bringing the cause of the drivers," he said.
Moreover, Dalisay said Plagata's claim that he is an inactive driver is irrelevant as he was elected president by the association members.
Dalisay said he was elected for three terms because the drivers believed in his capacity and sincerity to bring their sentiments.
"I may not be a driver now but I was able to send my five children to college by working as a driver for many years and they are now all professionals," Dalisay said.
Earlier, Plagata said the demand of Icada to stop the ongoing traffic experiment is not acceptable as they are determined to find solutions to the city's traffic problem.
Plagata also downplayed the position paper of the group saying Icada under Dalisay no longer represent the entire sentiments of drivers as they are already a divided group.
