Back to normal
AFP lifts 'red alert' status, business as usual for troops
It is now back to normal for government troops as the "red alert" status was lifted following the immediate resolution of yet another failed government take-over in Manila.
As such, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) here resumed with regular monitoring activities on "regular" enemies of the State. From continuing extortion and harassments in hinterland villages, Captain Lowen Gil Marquez, commanding officer of the AFP's 3rd Civil Relations Group said AFP operations are in full-swing throughout Western Visayas in general and Panay Island in particular.
This, as reports gathered from the field poured in on the resurgence of communist-backed activities using armed communist terrorists New People's Army (NPA) as frontliners.
"We are not letting our guards down. We want all these terroristic acts stopped especially that those who are victimized are in the innocent civilians in the barangays. Our enemies want to spread terror and create destabilization so the AFP is here to prevent them," Captain Marquez added.
As for the recent failed take-over perpetuated by a small army of supporters of Senator Antonio Trillanes, Captain Marquez said a check made with troops in the region showed "zero support."
"There was no sympathy moves nor was there a brewing discontent to the chain of command," Captain Marquez ended.
