Hanging out with one's family or friends is always a delight. Even more so when it is in a place that offers comfort, good food and drinks as well as excellent service. Along Delgado Street is a new place where one can enjoy these. Called Gusteau, it offers a wide array of delectable pastries, cakes, rice meals, light meals and coffee. Its best sellers are House Brownies, House Cheesecake, Roast Beef Submarine and Gusteau Giant Burger.
Gusteau is a newly coined word by chef and co-owner Emerson Junn Lim based from "gusto", an Ilonggo word for "like." This is a project of three friends who often look for something new to satisfy their appetite. This was conceptualized in September 2006 and finally, the patisserie opened in November 2007. The place sports an Oriental look that is modern and chic.

Lim's culinary expertise has, so far, received accolades from those who have visited Gusteau. Lim is a graduate of Food Technology at the University of the Philippines. He earned a diploma in pastry art from the International School of Culinary Arts ad Hotel Management in Manila. He has worked as a chef in a cruise ship.
"We'd like this to be a place that ranks third for the Ilonggos, with home and work as the first and second," Lim said.
Gusteau can accommodate 40 people, while its smoking lounge can seat 20. For those who want to experience dessert at its prime, please book a day ahead.
Gusteau may be reached at 3383809 and is open from 11 am to 11pm Mondays through Saturdays. They serve lunch and dinner.
