Iloilo city, province now installed in the GPK Hall of Fame
Both the city and province of Iloilo have now been installed to the Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligirian (GPK) hall of fame after emerging as regional winners during the awarding ceremony held at Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center last Dec. 21.
Iloilo City won three in times in a row in the search for highly urbanized cities while Iloilo province is the winner in the search for provinces in Western Visayas.
The city of Iloilo was able to obtain the award because of its beautification project. It also got another award for having the cleanest public market restroom in cities' category Thursday.
Iloilo province got a high rating from evaluators because of its year-round cleaning and greening project.
Meanwhile, the town of Miag-ao in the first district of Iloilo province won first place in Category A (1st-3rd class municipalities) with Pan-ay of Capiz, second place, and Malay, Aklan as third place.
For Category B (4th-6th class municipalities), the town of Guimbal has been installed to the Hall of Fame yesterday.
Winners for the Inland Body of Water (River Category) is the Timbaban River of Madalag, Aklan; Jalaur River of Dingle, Iloilo; and Bago River of Negros Occidental. (PNA)
