Free computer literacy for OFWs/dependents starts February
A free computer literacy program designed for Overseas Filipino Workers and their dependents will kick off this February.
The 'Tulay Aral Program' is a joint undertaking of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Honest and Accountable Living for Ilonggos and a Graft -free Iloilo (HALIGI) Foundation Inc and Microsoft.
The program hopes to attract some 1, 000 OFWs and their dependents this year.
OWWA officer-in-charge James Mendiola said the program is their way of extending support to OFWs who desire to know more about computers.
He added that the program is also open to OFWs who have just completed their contract.
"They would be able to learn how to deal with more advanced equipment that will also give them a little edge when they seek work," he said.
The Microsoft has already released US $ 25,000 to HALIGI Foundation, which will spearhead the implementation of the program while the OWWA will shoulder additional expenses that will be incurred during the process. (PNA)
