JDV's ouster to bring changes to Lakas-NUCD
The ouster of former House Speaker Jose de Venecia would bring changes within the administration allied political party Lakas-NUCD (National Union of Christian Democrats). As such, the Lakas-NUCD will conduct a national meeting on Thursday to discuss the latest political development in the party.
City Mayor Jerry Treñas, who is member of Lakas-NUCD, said De Venecia is being wooed by the opposition to join them even before he was replaced by Representative Prospero Nograles last Tuesday.
Treñas did not specifically name the party that wants to get De Venecia. De Venecia is current national president of Lakas and Nograles is also a party member. The meeting will iron out kinks within the party and would probably bring changes.
The national directorate meeting would be attended by former President Fidel Ramos, De Venecia and the Lakas stalwarts. Ramos and De Venecia are the founders of the party.
Meanwhile, the changes in the House leadership will not affect the League of Cities in the Philippines (LCP). The squabble within the leadership at the House of Representative is an "internal issue" among the members of the House, Treñas, chair of the LCP, said.
The chief executive added Iloilo City would not have a hard time with Representative Nograles as his roots is from Lapaz district. He represents the 1st district of Davao. Nograles is currently the House Contingent to the Commission on Appointments.
Nograles is also the former House Majority Floor Leader and chairman of the Committee on Rules during the 13th Congress.
