Guimaras cops wage all-out war vs illegal drugs
Guimaras Provincial Police Office director Senior Supt. Leo
Puertollano gives instructions to the chiefs of police of the
province's five towns during a command conference at his
office.
Jordan, Guimaras – Whatever remains on the trade and proliferation of illegal drugs in the island-province of Guimaras is well within the control and capabilities of the island's police force.
As such, no need for augmentation and police back-up, and for Senior Superintendent Leo Puertollano, Guimaras Provincial Police Office Director, the job merely entails 'finishing touches.'
Main targets now are "only" the users with the series of arrests on known-drug pushers here and successful drug busts.
In December and January alone, at least five successful drug operations were made that resulted to the arrests of the island's drug personalities.
Of the island's five towns, Senior Supt. Puertollano eyes the municipality of Buenavista for the continued anti-drug campaign and police operations. This, he stressed, are mostly on users with marijuana as among the more popular 'stocks.'
Inspector Judy Mar Bonilla, Buenavista Police Chief, in last week's command conference was given special orders to pursue Buenavista's anti-drug drive.
To date, a drug-watchlist was drawn by the provincial command with orders out on town police chiefs to heighten its anti-drug moves.
"There has been a significant decrease on the supply from Iloilo. As for talks that Guimaras is a transit point of illegal drugs, it could be an old report because our intelligence information from the field tells us otherwise,' Senior Supt. Puertollano added.
