Treñas orders strict enforcement of minors curfew and liquor ban
Mayor Jerry P. Treñas has ordered the strict implementation of two ordinances that prohibit minors from loitering in public places after 11 p.m. and banning the sale of alcoholic beverages to the young individuals.
Ordinance 284-S-1981, known as an ordinance "prohibiting the sale of liquor and alcoholic beverages to minors and prohibiting the minors from drinking the same," provides penalties in the form of a fine or imprisonment to violators.
Treñas also issued memorandum orders to the city's Task Force Adams Apple and all business establishments to ensure that the ordinance is strictly implemented. The mayor directed TFAA to check all bars, clubs, refreshment parlors and private or public establishments to ensure that no alcoholic drinks are served or sold to any minor.
"I am directing the task force to add this to their list of assignments when they check on establishments at night as the permits and licensing division will be in charge of checking the establishments during daytime," the mayor said.
Treñas also requested all business establishments to strictly enforce the 1981 ordinance and reminded them that violators will be punished with a stiff fine and/or immediate cancellation of their business permits.
Meanwhile, the mayor also wants a full implementation of Ordinance 2006-020, which prohibit minors from wandering, sauntering, or loitering in specified places after 11 p.m. and before 4 a.m.."
Treñas ordered city police director Senior Supt. Wesley Barayuga and all precinct commanders to ensure that the ordinance is enforced to discourage juvenile delinquency.
"It saddens me to hear of reports that minors can be seen drinking alcoholic beverages in restaurants or going around public places beyond the curfew hours. That is why the stringent enforcement of these ordinances must be made for the well-being of these kids," Treñas added. (PIO)
