ATO sets final hearing on terminal fee increase in Iloilo Airport
The Air Transportation Office (ATO), now the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), has set on April 17 its final hearing for the New Iloilo Airport terminal fee increase to be held at the airport conference room.
ATO Iloilo Manager Allan Java expressed optimism that during the hearing, the stakeholders would approve the proposed increase in terminal fee to P150 per passenger from the current P30.
Java said that the increase is needed because of the high cost of maintenance, including the electricity.
Aside from the terminal fee, it has also been proposed to increase the parking space fee at the airport, concessions of the airline companies, and the rate for spaces rented by cargo forwarders and gift shops.
Such increase is also being proposed at the newly opened Bacolod-Silay Airport. The hearing for this is set on April 18 in Negros Occidental.
If the proposed increases will be approved, Java said a resolution will be submitted to the Office of Department of Transportation and Communication Secretary Leandro Mendoza to be implemented on June 1. (PNA)
