DILG probes Tigbauan execs' field trip
Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Iloilo provincial office will take an official look into the field trip of municipal officials and employees of Tigbauan, Iloilo.
With nearly P1 million in government funds spent for the 3-day break, municipal transactions in Tigbauan last Thursday and Friday were left in the hands of a 'skeletal force.' Wednesday was declared a holiday here despite a declaration from the Office of the President to have Philippine holiday, "Araw ng Kagitingan" observed Monday.
A total of 119 of the 130 in the town's plantilla of officials and employees joined the midweek-break last week headed by town Mayor James Excel Torres. Officially though, the break was dubbed 'team enhancement building program' that had Marikina City and Malacañang as among its primary destinations. A "side-trip" was made in Baguio City while it was to be the boat ride from Iloilo to Manila that had the 'team enhancement' talks cum seminar.
Today marks the first day back to work of the group with the DILG provincial office expected to make another visit here.
Bombo Radyo Iloilo in an interview with DILG's Teodora Sumagaysay reported of the lack of prior approval on the Tigbauan field trip. Sumagaysay is chief of the Technical Services Division and Local Government Officer 5 of the DILG provincial office.
