A New High in Roxas City
Casa Felisa
Roxas City never had it so good when it finally opened its latest chichi bar on the beachfront called the SANDBAR. This Bali-like restaurant-cum-bar is one beautiful place to go for some early cocktails (check out their frozen Margarita) in the afternoon while watching the sunset or just plain chilling out in the late evenings with the fantastic sounds of its resident disc jockey playing the latest and hip club music.
The SANDBAR is located at the Boulevard just across the captivating Casa Felisa, a sprawling lush resort complete with a bowling alley, an infinity swimming pool, beautifully appointed Mediterranean styled bungalows overlooking a man made lake, spacious guest rooms, function pavilions and a miniature Italian Restaurant owned by the gentle-mannered Ortiz family. I was completely enthralled by its beauty and charm, which I can smell in the wind, is to be the next travel destination of the weary and bored stiff people of Iloilo City.
The hip, young the beautiful Roxas party people
A few weeks ago, SANDBAR shined its brightest with "Saturday Invasion Party' where the young shakers and movers, the trendy and the beautiful personalities of Roxas City and its neighboring communities crowded together to unwind, enjoy and at the same time to see, be seen, and be counted, including this writer. Doing his magic spell once more at the music board was my favorite guest disc jockey for the night, DJ JV Villaruz of Embassy at the Fort who never fails to stir up the hornet's nest with his scene-stealing sounds. DJ Emman did equally good with his repertoire. Top host with the most and SANDBAR'S Manager Patrick Honrado and superb wife Thursday Ortiz were really in top form checking that everyone was having a grand time. And they succeeded.
Iloilo's St. Joseph Basketball Club
Seen there having a blast were top lensman Bordoy Viterbo, fashion designer par excellance Blas Aligno, witty businessman Mark Ortiz with sister Jessica Ortiz-Yu and cousin Rina Marty Dayto, my long lost good friend the former Cristina Granflor and her better half Elson Fondres of Philippine Airlines, the fun-to-be-with Roxas City Engineers Office's Troy Celino, dashing Bong Garcia with his bashful St. Joseph's School basketball team and Capiz's charismatic son Bleu Tanco and company.
Vodka and beer were the order of the night and how the Roxas people partied and had fun until the wee hours of the morning is one for the record, but alas something has to give--- Brown Out!!!! Well that's another story. What a weekend to remember. Cheers.
