City appropriates P1M for ISC road
City Mayor Jerry Treñas said the city government has appropriated P1 million for the repair of the road behind the Iloilo Sports Complex. The repair of the road will soon be implemented after the signing of the deed of donation between the city and the province.
Treñas said the road is often mistaken as a city road. The city asked the provincial government through Iloilo Gov. Niel Tupas Sr. to donate the property to the city for the latter to implement the repair. Those passing the area are complaining of the bad road behind the sports complex.
The P1 million is only an initial fund for the repair and the cost might be higher. The city government will just look for additional funds for the repair in case the appropriation is not enough, said Treñas.
The damaged road has created a negative impact to those motorists who are using it as alternative route. At the same time, the sports complex is host to different sports events, local, national and international sports events. Recently, football matches for the AFC Challenge Cup qualifying competition Group B between Philippines, Brunei Darussalam and Tajikistan were held at the Iloilo Sports Complex.
