30 teachers complete three-day Web Mobile Dev't Training
BACOLOD CITY -- Some 30 teachers from various tertiary schools in Negros Occidental have completed the three-day Trainors Training on Web and Mobile Development.
The training was held at the Information Technology (IT) building of University of Negros Occidental Recoletos, Bacolod City on May 22-24, 2008.
The Philippine Society of Information Technology Educators in cooperation with Microsoft Philippines and University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos and Colegio de San Agustin, organized the training.
Tim Vergel De Dios, Academic Development Evangelist of Microsoft Philippines said, "We are teaching the faculty the new content that would enable them to teach their students on how to program and develop web applications as well as develop applications for the mobile phones."
De Dios together with Anne Ivy Mirasol, a faculty member of University of the Philippines Diliman, trained the 30 faculty members.
De Dios said that, "We have a very exciting group. They were very interested and were enjoying the exercises. Some of them said it's their first time to do the mobile programming and have seen actual mobile devices."
"We will be giving these faculty members, training materials with all the laboratory exercises and slides so that they don't need to do it from scratch anymore," he added.
He said the training is very important since the teachers are the ones preparing the next generation of developers. "We want the students or the graduating ones to be competent in developing mobile and web applications since its really competitive now a days, so students will have to be skilled in developing different types of technology."
