NEDA-6 vows to focus on reg'l development agenda
Director Ro-Ann A. Bacal of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA 6) will strengthen its focus on attaining the agenda for regional development referring to the Medium Term regional Development as the basis of setting priorities in collaboration with government and private sectors.
Bacal, as Vice-chair of the Regional Development Council (RDC) will also meet with Antique Governor Sally Zaldivar-Perez who is the chairperson of RDC 6, and the different heads of the sector committees because of their strategic roles in the RDC. She hopes to synchronize her priorities with them to have a common perspective for smooth working relationship.
According to Information Officer Cynthia Lumampao of NEDA 6, Director Bacal as head of the regional planning agency of the government is focused on what direction the organization will be going.
The new NEDA Director is a product of Xavier University, Cagayan de Oro, where she graduated as Bachelor of Science in Commerce major in Accounting (cum laude) and later passed the board to become a Certified Public Accountant.
She started her career as supervising clerk in NEDA Cagayan de Oro and worked her way up to Assistant Regional Director of NEDA Region 10, until her present reassignment as the Regional Director of NEDA, Western Visayas.
The NEDA 6 Director has various trainings abroad which include among others, Urban and Regional Development in Singapore, short course on Industry Clustering in Melbourne and Urban Management and Planning in Rotterdam. Equipped with 30 years of experience in overseeing and coordinating development activities at the regional and local levels and a master's degree in Demography from Australian National University graduating with high distinction. She is also a NEDA national awardee receiving an award as "Gawad ng Director-General Management Tandem of the Yaer in 2004"; recipient of the Civil Service award as Outstanding Woman Supervisor and an outstanding Rotary-Ann. She also gives time to social and religious works in her community; Director of the Philippine Service of Mercy Foundation and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of People Helping People Foundation in Cagayan de Oro, Lumampao concluded.(PIA)
