Food creation has become an art and people are more choosy when it comes to what they take inside their body. It's not enough that it provides nourishment; it's also something that should interest their eyes. Such development has led to more restaurants fulfilling these needs. The workforce needed for these businesses to meet their diners' demands should be well-trained. Thus, several training centers for food preparation and management opened.
Kryz Livelihood Training Center, Inc., a family enterprise started in 2004 with only two courses --- baking and novelty items making. The latter includes corsage, bouquet, fashion jewelry, fabric flower, candle, beadwork, scented swan, perfume basket and carved soap making.

Its founder is Concepcion Carillo, a non-formal education teacher of West Visayas State University from 1998 to 2007. Her experience had shown her the opportunity to open a livelihood training center.
Now, Kryz Livelihood Training Center also offers Commercial Cooking, which includes 550 hours of three modules --- cold kitchen, hot kitchen and baking as well as 506 hours of Food and Beverage Series.
Last April, the center graduated 135 students. Its past graduates are now employed in prestigious hotels and restaurants because of their training background.

"This could be attributed to the way we teach our students," said Carillo. "We have a good relationship with the students because of our training modality wich is competency-based. Here, you can enroll anytime and graduate anytime. We hold individualized teaching, so, you progress at your own phase," she added.
Kryz was named after Carillo's son, Kryztoffer Ray Carillo. The business is practically ran by every member of the family, with Concepcion at the helm as president. Kryztoffer is the administrative officer; Sancho Carillo, supply officer; Andy Carillo, maintenance officer; Florabella Carillo, cashier; Yvonne Carillo, trainor of commercial cooking; Avegyll Carillo, trainor of commercial cooking and food and beverage series; Johanne Baptist Carillo, assistant trainor in food and beverage series and May Queen Carillo, assistant trainor and commercial cooking.
