Bacolod CHO: Dengue cases down by 74%
BACOLOD CITY -- City Health Officer Dra. Salome Biñas yesterday informed the media that dengue cases in Bacolod City reduced by 74 percent compared to last year's data of the same period that they gathered from various barangays.
Biñas said that the vast reduction of dengue cases could be attributed to consistency in anti-dengue campaign and other preventive measures which the barangay adopted. She told the City Hall Press that last January 2007 up to December 2007, there were 872 dengue cases reported from 61 barangays but as of this date, only 231 cases were reported.
She is very confident that because of the Anti-Dengue Ordinance, dengue cases will drastically drop and most especially the mortality rate of victims.
City Health Office recorded two dengue related deaths this year and the fatalities came from Brgy. Tangub and another from Brgy. Estefania.
She again reminded the public to consult immediately the doctor if there is a sign of ordinary fever in order to avoid dengue outbreak which was experienced last year where the fatalities reached to seven.
