33rd Capelco general assembly set
ROXAS CITY – A 33rdgeneral membership assembly has been set by the Capiz Electric Cooperative (Capelco) on August 23 at the Capiz Gymnasium here to update its member-consumers on the cooperative's progress and plans for development.
Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. will be the guest speaker of the upcoming assembly with the theme "Continued Commitment to Service and Excellence."
The assembly will also be a venue for discussion of Capelco problems and concerns for appropriate solutions.
The cooperative has a total of 106,113 member-consumers as of December 2007. It achieved a complete barangay energization in the province last March 2005.
President Gloria Macapagal – Arroyo has extended her gratitude for the cooperative's unqualified support to the government's rural electrification program.
"Through this general membership assembly, I hope that you will exert more efforts in assisting our government fully energize our countryside to speed up its development," said President Arroyo in her message published in the 33rdannual general membership assembly souvenir program.
The President is keeping her administration's promise to light up countryside communities to enhance economic activities and provide livelihood in the area.
The Arroyo administration vows full electrification of 41,945 barangays nationwide by 2009.
The Department of Energy (DOE) has allotted for fiscal year 2008 some P200 million for the energization of the remaining 770 unenergized barangays. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
