Capiz solon wants his name cleared
ROXAS CITY – Sensing from radio commentaries and speculations that the "financial aid scam and payroll padding" issue could be behind the killing of Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) - dyVR commentator Martin Roxas, Capiz First District Rep. Antonio del Rosario is willing to be investigated in order to clear his name.
In his letter to Vice Mayor Ronnie Dadivas dated August 11, 2008, Del Rosario said his name is maliciously linked to the killing of Roxas who happened to tackle issues against him when he was still alive.
He requested for a formal investigation of the issues on "financial aid scam and payroll padding" to determine the following: 1) the extent of irregularities, if any; 2) to identify the guilty parties, if any; and 3) to take appropriate action against guilty parties involved, if any, by forwarding the findings to the Office of the Ombudsman.
The Capiz solon said that he is asking the swift action on his request because he believes that in the absence of formal investigation, both issues will never be resolved fairly and will be a tool of malicious minds to sow intrigues and muddle political issues.
According to him, he urges the city council to undertake measures to guarantee a speedy and just investigation of the issues adding that he wanted to be furnished the details in order for him to be present during the investigation.
He said that an immediate investigation is essential to put closure to these allegations because it will ultimately identify the guilty parties, if any, or clear the names of innocent people who are maliciously dragged into these alleged case.
"I believed in our judicial machinery and if findings indicate that there is a strong evidence linking me to any wrong doing. I will wholeheartedly welcome that the case be forwarded to the Office of the Ombudsman," he added.
He added that he want to secure justice for everyone – for himself and also for Martin Roxas whose untimely death is maliciously and unfortunately linked by some quarters to his exposes on the alleged anomalies.
To recall, Roxas was gunned down allegedly because he tackled many controversial issues such as the financial aid anomalies and payroll padding when Del Rosario was city mayor, the P44 million legacy projects of Ex Gov. Vicente Bermejo, now city mayor, illegal drugs issues and many others.
