Liga special election in Panitan still hangs
ROXAS CITY – The Liga ng mga Barangay (LnB) national has already given a go signal for the holding of the special election in Panitan town yet for some reason no election has been held.
Tingcupon Barangay Captain Richard Dadivas is wondering why the election still hangs despite the authority from the LnB national.
Mr. Steve Deslate, political adviser of Dadivas, told The News Today that he called the attention of Ed Tiongson, Executive Director of the National Liga, however the latter told him that he is no longer connected with the Liga and that the resolution giving authority for the holding of election still needs another document ordering the chapter to conduct election within 15 days from receipt thereof.
Deslate said that during the time of Liga President James Marty Lim, there was indeed an order of election from Lim for the Ivisan chapter to conduct election aside from the existing board resolution.
"I think the said resolution authorizing the holding of special election could be questioned by any loser of the party after the election," Deslate said.
To recall, the National Liga through a resolution passed by its board had authorized the LnB of Panitan to hold a special election.
LnB Panitan does not have officers until now after it failed to conduct election last year for lack of quorum.
The absence of officers deprived barangays officials in said town to have a representative in the Sanggunian Bayan.
Provincial Liga President Clemente "Budong" Firmalino said the chapter is now preparing for the conduct of election the soonest time possible.
However, the provincial Liga did not have quorum in their session at provincial capitol on Tuesday in which they were supposed to decide the venue and date of the special election.
