The resolution said, being within the tourism belt in the Philippines Super Regions identified by President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, Capiz attunes itself with other provinces in designating the last week of September as Provincial Tourism Week.
It stated that this year’s celebration on Sept. 21 -27 with the theme "Tourism Responding to the Challege of Climate Change" coincides with the World Tourism Day which is also being celebrated around the globe.
"The activity is an important milestone in world tourism, commemorating the anniversary of the adoption of UNWTO Statutes on September 27, 1970," the resolution stated.
It also said that the province of Capiz recognizes the link between tourism and the environment in its campaign for sustainable development in the midst of the ever-growing threats of climate change.
Board Member Fritz Crum-Am moved to suspend the three-reading principle considering that the resolution is urgent.
