Capiz provincial liga bloodletting in Dumalag successful
ROXAS CITY – Some 25,300 milliliters (ml) of blood was taken from the 73 blood donors who participated in the blood letting conducted last Wednesday in Dumalag, Capiz by the provincial liga led by its President Clemente "Budong" Castro Firmalino.
Firmalino said that the purpose of the blood letting is to supply the high demand of blood especially during the epidemic like dengue fever and during emergency surgical operations.
Firmalino, who is the liga president of Dumalag, required every village chiefs of 19 barangays in the said town to have at least five blood donors. The bloodletting started at 8:30 a.m. until 2: p.m. on Sept. 3 at Sohot Cave in Dumalag.
The blood letting was conducted and supervised by Red Cross Capiz Chapter led by its Administrator Nelia Cartujano.
Earlier, Pontevedra Liga President Moises Dumapig conducted a blood letting at the said place where some 150 donors successfully donated their blood to the Red Cross.
Firmalino said that being a provincial liga president, he will also replicate the project to all towns of Capiz province for the welfare of the province's local folks.
The said blood letting was also attended by Dumalag Mayor Lilia Castro who facilitated the venue while Board Member Baden Cantiller gave 500 pieces of "balut" for donors to eat after the blood letting.
