Iggy holds barangay consultation in Himamaylan
BACOLOD CITY -- Negros Occidental 5th District Rep. Ignacio T. Arroyo had his consultations with the local officials of Himamaylan recently to further know the needs and other concerns of his constituents.
Provincial Board Members Enrique Miguel Lacson and Melvin Ibanez joined him.
Nineteen barangay captains with Mayor Caminia Bascon and Vice Mayor Luz Bayot raised their various concerns to the solon and board members that included their immediate needs for road repair and rehabilitation, constructions of bridges, covered courts, barangay halls, as well as the implementation of food-for-work program in their respective villageS.
Arroyo, through his staff listed all the concerns and will make assessment on what projects to prioritize.
Arroyo, however, said that one thing sure for now is the construction of P55 million water breaker in Barangay Sara-et, aimed at protecting this village and its neighboring barangays against possible erosion.
Sara-et is one of the coastal barangays in Himamaylan City.
Arroyo also went to Himamaylan National High School and Aguisan National high School, where the solon also made a campaign to all students regarding his newly-approved House Bill regarding the protection of environment.
The solon encouraged the Himamaylan students to start advocating for the protection of environment as early as now before global warming gets worse.
"I hope that you young students will help me in telling others that our Mother Earth needs an extra-care as global warming continue to threaten us,'" he told the young Himamaylanons, adding, "whatever trash you throw will always go back to you."
Arroyo then promised to build a covered court at Himamaylan National High School and to purchase lot for the school.
