Leonardia favors new MOA for Bacolod Boys' Home operation
BACOLOD CITY – City Mayor Evelio Leonardia agreed for the creation of a new memorandum of agreement (MOA) that will govern the operation of the Bacolod Boys Home.
This was learned after the mayor's meeting with Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra and Fr. Fernando Peralta, designated supervisor for Bacolod Boys' Home Foundation, at the Bacolod Cathedral yesterday.
Leonardia, however, did not elaborate more on the details of their meeting.
The mayor only confirmed that during their conference, they tackled the role of the City and likewise the responsibility of the foundation towards the abandoned children.
"We agreed in our meeting to pursue the drafting and the conclusion of the MOA, and we will reveal this in due time," Leonardia declared.
Leonardia also challenged his critics that instead of exaggerating the issue they should extend financial assistance to the Boys' Home.
"Please don't politicize this matter because the abandoned boys will be the one to suffer," Leonardia said. He added that the city government has been appropriating P3.3 million every year for the operation and management of the Bacolod Boys' Home.
Leonardia lamented that the donors will stop extending support if the controversy continues.
Bishop Navarra along with Fr. Peralta were supposed to have a press conference yesterday about the boys home issue but it was canceled in lieu of a dialog with Leonardia.
