Cuevas to police applicants: We don't recognize fixers
Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 Director, Chief Superintendent Isagani R. Cuevas warned interested police applicants not to get help from fixers as they don't recruit through agents.
The pronouncement came out following the entrapment operations against Robert Borja Senining for violation of paragraph 2a of Article 315 or Swindling/Estafa and Article 177 or Usurpation of Authority Rank, Title, and Improper Use of Names, Uniform and Insignia of the Revised Penal Code.
Senining was subject to complaints by several PNP applicants whom he allegedly extorted money with the promise to help them qualify in the recruitment program.
The Regional Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, acting on several complaints, arrested Senining last September 15, 2008 at 3:00 PM inside the Food Court located at the 3rd Floor of a mall in Lapaz, Iloilo City.
Recovered from the possession of Senining during the arrest were one PNP Badge bearing Serial Number 059789, one folder of PO1 Jenny A Gandecilia, one PNP Task Force Disiplina ID with control tag number 0-02-2008, 3 PNP Task Force Disiplina IDs with control tag 001-2008, one PNP Task Force Banat ID, one PNP ID in the name of John Perono; and one PNP ID in the name of Bernardo Dapiton.
Senining has 'again' started victimizing PNP applicants with the on-going PNP Attrition Recruitment Program.
Since September 1, 2008 PRO 6 started receiving application folders for the 260 vacant positions for Police Officers 1 (PO1s). The recruitment will culminate on December 1, 2008 with the oath-taking of qualified applicants.
"We want to be fair with the applicants. We will strictly adhere to the guidelines and procedures of the recruitment program," Cuevas explained.
Cuevas advised the applicants to refer their inquiries at the Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division, which is the secretariat of the recruitment program, instead of getting help from 'fixers'.
"We don't recruit through agents. Just comply with the requirements and see if you fit the standards,"he added.
"The applicants will be evaluated based on merit and fitness," Cuevas said.(F.Lindero Jr)
