Capiceños appreciate BSP outreach
ROXAS CITY -- The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' (BSP) effort to reach the community and explain the BSP - produced statistics received the appreciation of the participants during an open forum of the activity last October 17 here.
"I appreciate the BSP for their efforts to come over in Roxas City and discuss these things with us," said a businessman after the presentations on BSP-produced statistics.
The forum was an advocacy of the BSP to inform the public and enhance their appreciation of the BSP-produced statistics and their uses.
"This is our advocacy, to educate the people," said BSP - Department of Economic Statistics Deputy Director Ludivinia D. Gador, stressing that they are also reaching out to other communities in other regions.
The various topics discussed during the forum included Monetary and Financial Statistics and Indicators, Balance of Payments, and Business and Consumer Expectations Surveys as well as Regional Inflation in the Philippines.
The half-day activity was in line with the 19th National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration the theme "Demand – Driven Statistics: Key to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Development."
The BSP has been conducting public information campaigns in line with the effort to increase public awareness on the role of the BSP in the economy and the financial system and to further enhance the transparency of monetary policy. (PIA)
