Asia's Fashion Czar and great artisan Jose "Pitoy" Moreno presented his fabulous collection of Philippine ternos and evening gowns at the Grand Ballroom of Amigo Terrace Hotel last October 25, 2008. Attended by the city's social luminaries and serious fashion watchers, the internationally famous fashion designer is definitely a strong force in fashion.
An awardee of the Cultural Center of the Philippines Gawad CCP Para sa Sining for fashion design, the highest merit given to an artist who never cease in producing outstanding works to enrich the development of their art form, Mr. Pitoy Moreno truly deserved such accolade. He introduced the world to the country's indigenous fabrics of pina, jusi and lepanto and is regarded as among the earliest exponent of the Maria Clara, a dress comprised of camisa, tapis and panuelo. His idea to redefine the barong Tagalog and have it wearable to women was greatly welcomed by the fashion world and high society.

His second gala show outside the Philippine capital, Mr. Moreno dressed up some of Iloilo's ladies with magnificent ternos which they succesfully breathed life to his masterpieces. Also showcased were the evolution of the Filipino wardrobes which Mr. Pitoy Moreno is an authority.
Indeed, Mr. Pitoy Moreno has zealously contributed to our fashion history with his Philippine costumes; his incomparable fashion creations and impeccable workmanship are all admired by many all over the word. The event 's beneficiary is the Orphanage for Girls of the Domincan Sisters.
