Groundbreaking for P5M hostel in Guimaras set today
A ground breaking ceremony is set today for the construction of a P5 million hostel cum training facility in the island-province of Guimaras. The construction is funded by the Countrywide Development Fund (CDF) of Congressman JC Rahman Nava.
The two-storey hostel training facility will be constructed near the vicinity of the Guimaras Provincial Capitol. It is a joint project of the congressman and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda), said Gov. Felipe Hilan Nava, the solon's brother.
The construction materials and supplies will be provided by the solon, said Gov. Nava. Tesda will provide the labor for the construction of the building as their counterpart to the project. The project is aimed to assist the Guimarasnons seeking training for food and beverages and other hotel and restaurant trainings, said Nava.
The hostel/training facility is the first in the province. The congressman is set to arrive today from Manila to attend the groundbreaking ceremony for his hostel project.
Gov. Nava said said the facility would be a big help to their constituents. At present, the province has some 20 scholars taking up HRM courses.
As soon as the building is ready to accommodate trainings, the provincial government will ink a memorandum of agreement with the owners of resorts in the province to accommodate the students who graduated from the training school, said Nava.
The trainees who passed the resort owners standards must be considered in the hiring of employees. The island-province is known for its tourism industry. The resorts in the island cater both foreign and local tourists.
The governor also said they will only hire trainors from the Iloilo City to assist the Guimarasnons in their needs.
