Police: Very peaceful Christmas in Iloilo City
It was a very peaceful Christmas Day celebration. This was the assessment of Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) chief, Supt. Eugenio Espejo after getting a report from his seven district police station commanders regarding the peace and order situation during Christmas Day, December 25.
Espejo is elated to note that no major accident or incident happened during the celebration and as many people opted to celebrate the event inside their homes with their families.
The ICPO chief said he is also waiting for the final report from his field commanders regarding the December 26 celebration of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CCP-NPA) anniversary in this city. So far, since this morning, no untoward incident involving the CPP-NPA celebration was reported to his office.
Espejo said his office is closely monitoring the activities of leftist organizations that may join in the CPP-NPA celebration and policemen are already briefed on what to do should trouble arise.
All police stations are on full alert until the New Year and policemen on duty are not allowed to take a leave of absence. (PNA)
