Suplico to Tupas, Capitol heads: 'Reimburse BHW food, transpo expense'
Vice Governor Rolex Suplico as a New Year's Day appeal" issued a similar message for his uncle, Governor Niel Tupas and top officials of the Iloilo Provincial Government.
Have pity on the volunteer workers of Iloilo's barangays. Reimburse them of their transportation and food expenses," came the vice governor's appeal.
This, as town-level planned distribution of the Capitol's cash gift of over P23 million for the group was never realized. What happened, as Suplico now decried, was a repeat of previous year's scenario where thousands of Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), Day Care Workers, Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs) and Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS) were made to claim at the Capitol. Others particularly in Northern Iloilo towns were asked to go to the governor's hometown in Barotac Viejo.
Suplico condemned said distribution saying such were clear violations of Supplemental Budget No. 1.
As such, the vice governor said the Tupas family led by the governor and son, town mayor Raul Tupas should reimburse the transportation and food expenses of the workers.
They were forced to go to the Capitol to get their P2,000 financial assistance," Suplico decried. Governor Tupas and his family had a political rally in the Capitol forcing the BHWs to attend. What is disgusting here is that the BHWs paid for their own fare and food deducting these from their P2,000 in violation of SB No. 1 which provides for town distribution. The hidden message is that you don't get these if you don't attend the rally of the Tupases. The Tupas family has once again fried the BHWs in their own fat. Mahuya man kamo.- ireimburse niyo and plete kag pagkaon sang mga BHWs BSPOs, BNSs and Day care workers," suplico said.
Same sentiments of the Vice Governor who charged that Capitol officers conspired" with the Tupas family to force BHWs to go to the Capitol since December 23 and to the Tupas bailiwick of Barotac Viejo... they should also reimburse the BHWs their unnecessary transportation and food expenses."
This in violation of SB No. 1 mandating town level distribution. The head of personnel of the Provincial Treasurer's Office and all those involved in the illegal releases should reimburse BHWs their fare and food expenses. The act of forcing them to attend political rallies is cruel and inhuman. Mahuya man kamo," Suplico appealed
