Cuartero mayor denies harassing village chief
ROXAS CITY – Cuartero Mayor Roger Flores denied harassing Punong Barangay Maximo Candido of Brgy. Malagab-i, Cuartero during the Municipal Development Council meeting recently.
Flores said Candido showed arrogance when he asked about the closure of a road in their barangay.
The mayor repeatedly ordered to open and dismantle the bamboos blocking the road but Candido still had it closed.
Flores said there was no ordinance for the closure of the road adding that if they had passed a barangay ordinance it should be reviewed and approved by the Sanggunian Bayan (SB) of Cuartero.
Earlier, Candido got irked and was planning to file a legal action against Flores for allegedly embarrassing and preventing him from attending the MDC meeting on January 5.
Candido told The News Today that Flores shouted at him in the presence of several barangay captains and Sangguniang Bayan Members Ronald Guillermo and Abner Falsis.
The village chief alleged that Flores shouted at him for he doesn't want to see his face inside the municipal hall. He said that in order to avoid further commotion he went out.
“We have a barangay resolution to close the road,” Candido said adding that road closure was made to protect it from being damaged by heavy vehicles.
Candido along with the village chiefs of Brgy. Mahabang Sapa, Bito-on Ilawod, Poblacion Takas and Nagba are known to be the opposition of Flores administration.
