Nine 2nd district mayors go for Mrs. Castro
JAMINDAN, Capiz – Nine mayors in the 2nd district of Capiz have officially announced through resolutions that they want Congressman Fredenil Castro's wife Baby Jane to run for Representative in 2010 to replace her husband whose term is about to end.
The announcement was made in front of the barangay officials of Jamindan town during their barangay night last Friday.
Their resolutions also expressed support to whatever political plans of Congressman Castro in the 2010 election.
The nine mayors who attended the affair were: Dao Mayor Joselito Escutin, Dumarao Mayor Leslie Warren Benjamen, Dumalag Mayor Lilia Castro, Tapaz Mayor Rosemarie Gardose, Jamindan Mayor Ethel Jinon, Mambusao Mayor Jose Alba, Sapian Mayor Arturo Orosco, Cuartero Mayor Roger Flores and Ivisan Mayor Ipe Yap. Only Sigma Mayor Maria Andaya, wife of the late Cong. Vicente Andaya, was not around.
In her response, Mrs. Castro said that she accepted the challenged and endorsement made by mayors and village chiefs of Jamindan as she pledged of good service delivered to the constituents.
“Thank you for the trust and confidence you have given me, you will expect from me good and sincere service,” Castro said.
Castro, it was learned, gave to Jamindan town ambulance, patrol car and fire truck which were inaugurated and blessed during that day. He also gave ambulance to the town of Ivisan.
Recently, Department of Transportation and Communication (DOTC) Asst. Sec. Roberto Lastimoso during his 65th birthday celebration in Dao said that he also accepted the challenge to run as congressman.
Meawhile, AGAP top man Cesar Cobrador will oppose Escutin in Dao and vowed to break the political dynasty as the latter dominated the town of Dao for almost 40 years.
