NPC party intact says Sayson
BACOLOD CITY -- The 2010 elections is still far away but there are already groups who are testing how strong every member of Nationalist People's Coalition (NPC) in Bacolod City are.
Reports revealed the possible tandem of Presidential Spokesperson Anthony Golez for congressman is Mayor Evelio Leonardia and Councilor Greg Gasataya, a last termer councilor, would be their candidate for Vice-Mayor.
The said slate according to reports has been ironed-out in Hongkong when Golez invited the five councilors from NPC for a meeting and vacation where Gasataya was there.
Bacolod Vice-Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson on the other hand is being floated that he will run for mayor in 2010 in tandem with Councilor Jocelle Batapa-Sigue (independent) as vice mayor and Land Transportation Office-National Capital Region head Ricardo "Cano" Tan (Lakas-Kampi) as congressman.
But Sayson justified that it is all speculations and very impossible since their group is very intact and everything has not yet finalized or even discussed especially the controversial slates.
"It is still too early to make pronouncements and I will wait for whatever decision of the party and will abide by it," he said.
The reports that he will run for mayor is purely hearsay and is meant to spread intrigue among them, Sayson said.
"I assure the people that my political relationship with Mayor Evelio Leonardia is as strong as ever since both of us are under the NPC and the mayor is our city chairman," he said.
He advised those with bad intentions to just wait for the proper time but he also respects it saying that this is a democratic country and anybody can speculate.
Mayor Leonardia earlier said they are only responding to the plans of somebody like what Golez did starting last year, testing the waters of Bacolod if he is an acceptable candidate for congressman.
Councilor Homer Bais stressed that their trip to Hongkong was just a response to an invitation and there are no strings attached.
