15MW hydro power plant eyed in Kabankalan
BACOLOD CITY -- Negros Occidental will have an additional alternative power source with the entry of Conal Holdings Corp.
It has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) yesterday for a feasibility study on the potential of Carol-an River as a source of hydro power.
Kabankalan City Mayor Pedro Zayco and Mr. Tirso Santillan, Jr., Executive Vice President of Conal Holdings and ALTO Power Management Corp., signed the MOU yesterday.
The Sangguniang Panlungsod authorized the Mayor to enter into the said MOU with Gov. Zayco witnessing the signing.
The firm is expecting to generate 15 MW from the Carol-an river.
Santillan said that they will commence the feasibility study soon.
The same company is conducting a detailed engineering work on the Bago river for a 40 MW hydro power which will become operational by 2013.
Santillan said the cost of the hydro plants will run by about P4 billion.
The construction will start by the end of 2010.
Santillan said that the plant for the Bago River will either be located in Murcia, Don Salvador Benedicto and San Carlos City.
