City starts solid waste campaign among cluster barangays
BACOLOD CITY -- The Bacolod City Government, through the Solid Waste Management Coordinating Action Team, met Monday with the first set of cluster barangays to discuss the full implementation of Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act.
The cluster barangays, composed of Barangays 1 to 12, vowed full support to the City Government's effort and assured that they will disseminate the information to their respective constituents.
One of the issues discussed during the meeting was the installation of the materials recovery facility (MRF), a specialized area that receives, separates and prepares recyclable materials for marketing to end-user manufacturers.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia assured all barangay leaders that the City Government will work closely with each barangay to ensure the success of the city's campaign on effective solid waste management.
A series of meetings will also be held for members of the media, mall and restaurant owners, teachers, students and other civic groups.
