Environment-friendly technology to arrive in slaughterhouse
BACOLOD CITY -- Engineer AntonioValeriano Bernardo, president of AVM Bernardo Engineering, confirmed yesterday that they will install by the end of February the newest technology from Japan called Environmental Recovery System (ERS) Technology for Bacolod City New Slaughterhouse located at Brgy. Handumanan.
Bernardo said the technology will be another investment of their company out of P54 million which was spent prior to the operation of the abattoir last year.
The said technology will add to the existing waste water treatment facility which also performs better but they need to have the new technology as part of their company’s innovation.
Waste water treatment facility separates the solid waste particles from liquid which is then treated in a pond before letting it flow to the farms.
As a procedure, the solid particles will be treated at the temperature of 60 degrees Celsius, to trigger the good bacteria to survive as they eat the bad ones.
“Organic components will remain as it is conducive for fertilizer,” he added.
The finished product is the best source of organic fertilizer which can help the farmers in their quest to go back to organic farming, Bernardo added.
The technology has been tested by U.P. Los Baños and has passed the standards of the Department of Science and Technology when it undergone technology verification.
Bernardo also confirmed that they already addressed the problem of foul odor as it was the clamor of some residents near the abattoir before.
They implemented the ‘zero-discharge’ by diverting the ‘treated water’ from the facility instead to the creek, distribute it through big hoses to the nearby farmlands.
“The plan was very successful after we implemented zero-discharge and we gained positive feedbacks from the people around,” Bernardo said.
