First Provincial Crime Laboratory rises in Antique
SAN JOSE, Antique – The province of Antique is one of the provinces outside Iloilo to create a Provincial Crime Laboratory.
The Antique Provincial Crime Laboratory was inaugurated and blessed last February 23, with General Arturo Cacdac of the PNP National Crime Laboratory as the guest of honor. Officials from the Police Regional Office 6 also arrived to witness the activity.
The meaningful ceremony was also attended by the local officials of the province headed by Gov. Sally Perez, Vice-Gov Rhodora Cadiao, SP Members, Mayors and Vice Mayors as well as Municipal ABC Presidents.
Perez was elated by the inauguration of the crime laboratory. “This is useful to Antique… Antiqueños must be proud and happy for the creation of the Provincial Crime Laboratory in the province as the governor has the best intentions for the development of the province with the help of Sangguniang Panlalawigan members,” she said.
“This is the fruit of unity of the local officials of Antique,” the governor added.
Gen. Cacdac was also thankful and happy for the support given by the local executives of the province. He said, it is the mandate of the office to provide scientific investigative support. The office will also help in solving the crime and is responsive to the needs of the police investigators in the province.
With the donation of the Crime Lab this is a positive step, according to Cacdac, to attain peace and order which is conducive for economic growth.
Cacdac recognizes the difficulty incurred by police investigators without the crime laboratory.
Gen. Cacdac also initiated in 2007 a 5 year development plan with 5-6 crime lab per year until 2011 or a 1 Provincial Crime Lab Project.
Police Senior Inspector Xerox Omero will be in-charge of the Antique Crime Laboratory.
Turning-over of equipment for the crime lab followed after the luncheon.
Meanwhile, Gov. Perez said that Antique is a very safe place and what happened to Kirsten Mejica was an isolated case. Perez said that the provincial government is doing everything to go to the bottom of the crime and give justice to Kirsten as she wouldn’t want this crime to happen again.
