Guv’s aide ‘sermons’ Vice guv over ‘rude’ acts
Iloilo Vice Governor Rolex Suplico has been officially taught lessons on good manners and right conduct. His teacher? The top aide of Governor Niel Tupas Sr., Manuel Mejorada.
And what prompted the “crash course?” The now controversial visit of the vice governor to the Provincial Engineers Office. Mejorada on his own accord used his authority as alter-ego of the governor to “formally register” protest on what he termed was Suplico’s “rude and unprofessional behavior.”
Mejorada apparently went to the rescue of Capitol Engineer Romeo Andig who was visited by Suplico last February 3.
As such, a letter was sent to the vice governor primarily to admonish him.
“As narrated to us by Engr. Andig, you barged into his office and in an arrogant manner, asked for the whereabouts of Engr. Ananias A. Lago, the supervising engineer for the 5th district of Iloilo. Then when you learned that Engr. Lago was on field duty, you proceeded to harangue Engr. Andig by telling him (in the vernacular) to tell Engr. Lago “to stop telling the people that I (meaning you) was blocking the programs and projects of the province,” Mejorada’s letter to Suplico went. “According to Engr. Andig, you warned him that by 2010, Senator Manny Villar is certain to be elected President of the Republic and then you will be appointed to a Cabinet position. When that happens, you will push for the investigation of all transactions at the Capitol and you will go after people like Engr. Andig, you were paraphrased as saying.”
And Mejorada was not done yet as he went ahead to further remind the vice governor on how to justly treat Capitol officials.
“They do not take sides in any political squabbles and your conduct was tantamount to harassment and intimidation. I hope that you will refrain from such behavior and conduct in the future,” the letter added.
