2 new Ceneco directors vow crusade vs defective policies
BACOLOD CITY -- Newly elected Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) Board of Directors Pepito Malapitan and Zenaida Diamante Lacson of District 2 and District 3, respectively, vowed to lead a crusade to cleanse Ceneco of all its defects that has led to the suffering of the consumers.
Lacson who presently serves as Barangay Captain of Brgy. 32 and Malapitan a former Barangay Captain of Brgy. Alijis announced last Saturday after Ceneco election that they will oppose the power rate increase since it is untimely and arbitrary.
"As an activist, engaged in many crusades will lead the consumers to question the many defective policies of Ceneco. Among these is the arbitrary increase of rates which should not be charged to consumers," Lacson said.
Lacson is a retired school teacher and head of the parents and teachers association before her election as Barangay Captain.
She said that as a Barangay Captain, she will stand strong against foolishness in government and a crusader against dishonesty.
On the other hand, Malapitan vowed to initiate changes in the billing policy of Ceneco which he felt is unjust for the consumers. "Sometimes the electric bill sent to the consumers do not coincide with their salary schedule, so I have to adjust this as a Ceneco Board of Director so that they have no reason to pay in a cut-off time," Malapitan said.
Malapitan also said that the imposition of a new power rate is untimely due to the global financial crisis that we are facing.
Ceneco held last Saturday an election for three districts wherein the incumbent Ceneco Board of Director for District 7 Roberto L. Montelibano won against his rival Jonel Bonifacio.
Malapitan and Lacson along with Montelibano vowed to improve Ceneco performance and focus more on real reforms that are needed.
Montelibano is a former Ceneco Board President and the incumbent president of Metro Bacolod Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MBCCI). Montelibano also opposed the power rate adjustment since it is untimely and additional burden to the consumers. Montelibano expects revisions and push for better Ceneco financial management.
