FEBACDA, UNDOC to stage protest rally at LTO today
The Federation of Bacolod Drivers Association (FEBACDA) and United Negros Drivers and Operators Center (UNDOC) will stage a protest rally this morning at Land Transportation Office (LTO) Bacolod to oppose the exorbitant penalties it is imposing to drivers who violate the their rules on seat belt and use of appropriate shoes when driving, among others.
Mrs. Beth Katalbas, FEBACDA President has brought this matter to Bacolod City Lone District Rep. Monico O. Puentevella who chairs the House Committee on Transportation.
They call for the deferment of this memorandum order which imposes a penalty of P1,000 and more to drivers who will be caught wearing slippers and without seat belt.
She said they also sent this complaint before Sec. Leandro Mendoza.
Katalbas said that the present economic situation now calls for a wider understanding from our government agency like the LTO.
She said if there are penalties, it should not be that exorbitant as drivers could hardly earn due to the high cost of gasoline and basic commodities.
Puentevella has asked these drivers and operators associations to send him their complaint so that he could take this up to the Transportation Committee for possible deferment and appropriate action.
