Dumarao mayor cites town's development in SOMA
ROXAS CITY – Mayor Leslie Warren “Beboy” Benjamen deliverered his State of the Municipal Address (SOMA) last week focused on more development projects undertaken by his administration that benefited his constituents in Dumarao.
In his 5-page SOMA, Benjamen said that he is guided with image and strive for vision as “self-progressive, self-reliant Dumarao through agro-industrialization & eco-tourism.”
He also assured that all plans, programs and accomplishments for the year that passed were geared towards the attainment of such a desirable condition in the future.
Benjamen delivered his SOMA on March 31 during the Women’s day celebration at the civic center before hundreds of women.Officials and residents of 33 barangays also attended the said occasion.
Benjamen cited his major achievements last year on good governance, good administration, social development, economic development and environmental management.
On governance, the mayor said there's a need for an effective legislative tracking system for the existing codes or ordinances supporting the social development and economic development.
On administration, Benjamen, a first termer mayor, said that one of the highlights was that his administration was able to put up municipal hall extension in Bgry. Dacuton where residents need not to go to the town to get their business permits, licenses like marriage license, etc. His administration also helped underprivileged but deserving students with scholarship.
On social development, the mayor also said that he delivered various programs, projects and activities like maternal care with 5,450 beneficiaries, child care with 14,222 beneficiaries, family planning with 2,135 beneficiaries, TB DOTS program with 290 beneficiaries, Nutrition program with 20,704 and 1,020 clients were served by laboratories services.
On economic development, he said that his administration was able to distribute seeds, fertilizers, hybrid corn and conducted school on the air for corn farmers and helped develop hog/livestock.
His administration was able to distribute P5 million worth of fertilizers to farmers and was able to construct municipal agricultural office. Grader and Road Roller were added to complement existing heavy equipment for infrastructure projects.
Benjamen also said, his administration maintained environmental ordinances, conducted IEC conservation campaigns, effective solid waste management board with functional plans which resulted to effective solid waste reduction.
