Business sector to tackle power issues in summit
Members of the Iloilo Business Club (IBC) and power utility players in Iloilo will gather today, Friday, to discuss the power situation both in the national and local level.
IBC executive director Lea Lara said the summit was requested by their members to gain better understanding about power concerns.
Among those invited to talk were the Department of Energy (DOE) to discuss power situation and power rates with the privatization of the National Power Corporation (Napocor) and the Global Business Power Corporation (GPBC) to know about the update of the coal-fired power plant.
Representatives from the Iloilo Electric Cooperative (ILECO) and the Panay Electric Company (PECO) will brief participants about the content of their electric bills.
Lara said for the longest time, they have been hearing complaints from business groups about their bill even if it is now unbundled.
"We would like to bring down the technical terms to layman’s understanding. That will help the business sector to understand what goes on as far as report on power crisis is concerned and dynamics of how bills are being computed,” she said.
The summit coincides with the general assembly of the IBC.
Lara said they have also received confirmation from several national government agencies (NGAs) that were invited to join the summit. (PNA)
