Capiz to revive Insumix prod’n soon
ROXAS CITY – The Capiz provincial government through its Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) is planning to revive the Infant Supplementary Mixture (Insumix) production this year.
This was revealed by OPA Cooperative Development Specialist II Sharon Dignomo during the Provincial Nutrition Council Meeting last April 21 here.
“A site visit to an Insumix production in Bacolod City has also been scheduled on April 29 to gather learning insights on the marketing and production processes, among others of the low-cost but nutritious baby food,” Dignomo noted.
She added that the plan to revive Insumix production is initially taking off through the initiative of Provincial Agriculturist Sylvia dela Cruz.
Insumix is a mixture of ground rice, mongo and sesame seeds that is as good as or even better than the branded commercially produced baby food since it is rich in carbohydrates, fats and proteins essential for the growth of infants.
It is good not only for weaning children but also for pregnant, lactating mothers, the elderly and/or growing children. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
