Leonardia optimistic on new traffic scheme
BACOLOD CITY -- Mayor Evelio Leonardia announced yesterday that the traffic management in Bacolod has a new set up under the direct participation and active involvement of Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) Director Supt. Leo Erwin Agpangan.
The restructuring scheme was applied by the Local Chief Executive in response to the worsening traffic scenario in the city of Bacolod which he even discussed during their Traffic Committee meeting last April 24, 2009.
Leonardia said that he is optimistic of the positive result because Agpangan initiated changes in traffic leadership by designating Senior Inspector Luisitio Acebuche as head of the Traffic Management Unit for the enforcement of traffic rules and regulations in the city of Bacolod.
Leonardia further stressed that the Bacolod City Traffic Authority Office under Senior Inspector Levy Pangue will focus on the administrative aspect.
On the other hand, Agpangan said that Acebuche will remain as Police Station 1 Commander because he is very effective in his present assignment. He cited Acebuche's performance in last year's Masskara Festival where his area of responsibility was adjudged as peaceful and orderly.
Leonardia hopes that Acebuche will duplicate his effort in improving the city's traffic situation. "I also appeal to all drivers and pedestrians alike to be cooperative with our traffic dynamics and make this traffic as everybody's business," Leonardia said.
On the other hand, Acebuche assured the Bacoleños to undertake major changes in Lacson Street as his priority area against double parking and triple parking. He asked the support of the SP Committtee on Transportation under Councilor Wilson Gamboa Jr. to provide additional railings to minimize "U turn" activity along Lacson Road.
