BCPO seeks OMB deputization
BACOLOD CITY -- Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) cannot conduct full operation regarding the proliferation of pirated VCDs and DVDs especially the much talked-about Katrina Halili-Hayden Kho sex scandal because of the absence of deputization from the Optical Media Board (OMB).
As per record, only the Negros Occidental Police Office personnel lead by Chief Insp. Rico Santotome are deputized.
BCPO Intelligence and Investigation Branch head Chief Inspector Leonardo Angcon said the VCDs and DVDs containing the sex scandals are being discretely sold in several areas of Bacolod City.
“We are planning to conduct a test-buy operation to arrest those who are selling these compact discs,” Angcon added.
The sole basis of confiscation this time is the violation of the anti-pornography law.
Angcon said they sought deputization from the OMB last week so that they can operate against pirated compact discs and DVDs in the city.
“The people are curious about these sex scandals but the public should not buy these pornographic items because their sale is against the law,” Angcon warned.
The city government of Bacolod through Acting Bacolod City Legal Officer and Secretary to the Mayor, Vicente Petierre III, have directed personnel to verify the reports on the alleged proliferation of the sex video of Halili and Kho in the city.
“We will coordinate with the Bacolod City police for an entrapment operation to confiscate these materials and those caught selling them will be meted appropriate penalties,” he added.
